The Final Sounds
Friday, December 30th, 2005
Earlier this week, the sound crew for Malediction has been anxiously finishing up mastering the sound for the film. When we’re not balancing the movie dialogue or mixing in my music, we were at the Decamp’s house making some custom sound fx. I had the opportunity to punch Mike in the stomache a few times. After that, I did it again and we recorded it ;-). For one sound, Mike actually had to elbow a large piece of dry wall for when Jason, in the film, gets knocked back into the wall.
So that’s it! The final mixing should have been completed tonight over at the Art Institute of Phoenix. The premiere is Tuesday night. I forgot to mention that tickets will be $5 at the box office. We’re not exactly sure how many people are going to come so I would suggest coming early to ensure you get a seat. I’d hate for you to drive all the way into North Scottsdale and not be able to see the film.
Last night, I also did a total makeover on the movie’s website, www.maledictionthemovie.com, so it looks a lot cleaner. More content will be put up once Kevin tells me what he wants! The trailer and a few photos are online though.
So after the premiere, the goal is film festivals. But before that, we will be taking audience comments for Kevin to see what should be struck for the next few cuts. The film is about 105 minutes right now and festivals like to see films around 90 minutes so we’ll get it to work in favor of festival schedules.
Other than that, I’ve been taking it pretty easy this break. And by pretty easy I mean I’ve been a lazy sonofabitch. I’m slowly getting into our Conan musical because I’d like to get preproducion done by mid to late January. I’ve also been working on that string quartet for ASU though I don’t think I will be participating in the composition project since… I’m a math major now… On top of that, I’ve got to prepare parts of Shadow Rituals for the band to perform in February… if I still get to do that since… I’m a math major now. I was hoping to embellish the piece for a college group since it was written as a grade 3 work but it looks like that may not happen.
So it’s been a relaxing break and it feels so good to say that there’s still three weeks left! I’m even able to sit in bed at 3 in the morning and read a book! A good book, too!
