Menopause… in Vegas

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

This and last week has been midterms at school. I’m almost convinced I should withdraw from ASU but for some reason, my friends keep convincing me not to. Amidst writing several papers, I took a business trip to Vegas with my most recent musical collaborator, Richard. I call it a business trip because we went to meet Paige O’Hara (voice of Belle in Beauty and the Beast) as she has taken some interest in Richard’s show, but that’s not all we did. Richard got us great seats to Phantom of the Opera in the Venetian–directly under the chandelier that comes crashing down on the audience. For the record, I don’t really like Andrew Lloyd Weber, but I will admit that the show was very impressive, production-wise. The next night, we sat through Menopause: The Musical, as Paige is starring in it, and had dinner with her after. I’ll admit that, for a 20-year-old male, the show was not as terrible as I thought it would be. In fact, it was very funny and the characters/actors were hysterical. The old ladies in the audience were going crazy for this show! It’s no wonder why it’s become so popular. And what better venue than in Vegas? Vegas is full of old ladies with lots of Social Security moneys to spend! Thank God I don’t have to fully understand all the jokes for another 30-something years. I wonder: how did I manage to sit through it again?Oh, I remember now.Thank you for not carding me, Las Vegas. Countdown until crazy 21st birthday: 43 days.
