ASU Awesome T.I.T.S. Recording

School is almost officially over! I’ve got one more year left but still no major. I’m looking at the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies. It’s a fancy and somewhat less embarrassing way of saying “General Studies” but at this point, I just want to be done. I’ve still got two finals next week, but last Tuesday was officially the last day of classes.

Gary Hill and the ASU Wind Symphony were gracious enough to give me half of their class time that day to read and record Turkey in the Straw. The group is AWESOME and had no problem sight reading this thing (they also premiered Shadow Rituals back in February of 2006 which they also sight read amazingly). James Smart led the group and, thanks to him, it could not have been a more smooth or successful session (especially when a third of students are graduating and this was the last hour of the last class of their college experience). I’ve spent almost two years between school and work battling this animal, but it’s finally turkey wrapping up (God, the puns I’ve made in that time…). So…

    Hi Mike!

    Our band director told us not long ago that we’re playing Shadow Rituals in our marching band show this year. I CAN’T WAIT!!! I’m not gonna say the band name on here cuz it hasn’t been announced to the public yet, but I’m sure you know… I’m so excited. Keep up the good work!
